Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny. Upanishads Lovely reminder from the classic text on Indian spirituality. But what if you become so watchful of your words, you stop writing? I can easily edit a sentence so many times in my head that it never makes it onto paper. Another one of my tricks that keep me from expressing my creativity is reading what already has been written about my subject and feeling I have nothing new to say. In what ways do you sabotage your actions? Having lived in three countries and five states, I appreciate regularly coming home to my yoga mat.
I have worked in communications and group fitness, but my most important job is raising two teenagers. My yoga mat is my personal retreat, a place for solace and serenity, balance and alignment. As a teacher, I aim to create grace and flow – on and off the mat. As a writer, I love when that flow actually happens. |
